Sydney Steverson
I’m Sydney Steverson, part-time semi-successful online horse influencer and even less
successful 3 day eventer. I’m an adult and and I don’t get paid to ride horses just to talk about
them online so I am an adult amateur who, of course, spends any and all of my disposable
income on my horses who I love more than my husband (don’t tell my husband). I am a big
believer in making my horses as comfortable and happy as possible when I ride so most (all) of
my favorite products at Tack Shack are for them. I like having all my favorite products in one
place so I don’t have to drive all over town.
My Ride-or-Die Favorites
Icetight Poultice
It’s miracle magical clay that makes your horses legs feel better. Don’t ask me
how it works I don’t know but I do know that I like it.
Vetericyn Mobility Liniment
Look, I have a 17 year old horse I dip him in this daily like he’s Achilles. Feels nice on human hands too, if that helps convince you.
Equiderma Skin Lotion
As the owner of a chestnut mare I have seen hives and funguses you
can’t even imagine. If a fire ant so much as sneezes in my mare’s direction she’s lumpy. This
stuff won’t prevent the lumps but it will sure as heck help get rid of them. Smells nice too. Also,
all natural ingredients which is always a bonus.
Shapley’s MTG
Again, chestnut mare. It’ll grow hair back so fast you can almost see it.
E3 Antibacterial Shampoo with Keto
I don’t know WHAT is in this (Keto, I guess) but boy HOWDY will this get rid of that weird gunk on your horses legs that kind of feels like tiny little scabs but its not. Not harsh on their skin either so I feel comfortable using it frequently (did I
mention I have a chestnut mare with 4 white socks, every day is a nightmare).
Orvus WA Shampoo
I have a grey gelding, unfortunately. The night before a show is a torture I
wouldn’t inflict on my worst enemy. Mostly because I wouldn’t let them touch my horse. Anyway,
this is gonna get your horse WHITE. Also I hear you can use it on furniture.
Exhibitor's Quicsilver
Put this in your grey horses tail when you START the bath and then leave it. Get the whole tail uncomfortably purple. More purple than you would like. THEN wash it out after it sits for 15 minutes.
ShowSheen Hair Polish and Detangler
A key part of making your show experience with a greyhorse and/or chestnut mare with 4 white socks is prevention. When you wash your horse thenight before don’t just put them out. You gotta make them slippery. Spray this all over theirentire body (not the mane unless you’re into that) and it will stop the dirt and dust from stickingto them (as badly) when they get up to shenanigans at night.
Tiger’s Tongue Horse Groomer
This is more than a sponge. This is an incredible item. It’s abrush and also you could use it as a sponge because it will absorb water. It gets dust RIGHToff. I love it. Makes packing for shows way easier because you don’t have to pack 300 brushes.Just one big sponge.
Equiessentials Braiders
I hate braiding. I’m also really bad at it. I break rubber bands around my weird baby hands all the time. Or at least I DID until I started using these which I think might be able to tow a truck without breaking.
Moss Melts Away Cleaner & Conditioner
There’s one thing about me you should know, I am extremely lazy and cleaning tack is my least favorite thing in the entire world. So the thought of a two step (ew) process to clean my tack? Who has time for that? No one. This is two in one
and you spray it and if you, say, forget to wipe it off because you got distracted looking at a lizard in the tack room it melts away! Gets the tack clean too.
Mrs.Pastures Super cookie Jar
Look, I don’t know if turmeric can cure your horse’s arthritis but I do know my horses LOVE these treats. It also has kelp in it. That’s a whole vegetable right?
Healthy for them. It’s a healthy snack.
Absorbine Silver Honey Wound Repair
Horses be getting scrapes. All the time. They love a wound. It’s important to have a quick and easy spray on hand to help keep it clean and keep it
safe.
Vetericyn Hydrogel Spray
I believe in having two wound sprays. Some wounds prefer a hydrogel spray. It’s not paranoia I’m fine.
Total Calm and Focus
Horse shows are stressful. Trailers are stressful. Warm up rings are stressful. Dressage judges are stressful. We’re all stressed. When horses get stressed they get weird in their brain and in their body. This helps keep them relaxed, listening, and not so distracted by every flower in the dressage ring.
Cool Relief Therapy Ice Wrap
For after those hard jump schools or dressage lessons on particularly hot days it’s easy to slap these bad boys on your horses legs. They freeze easily
and are easy to handle.
Incrediwear Equine Circulation Hock Sleeve
We call these my horse’s grandpa socks. I love putting this on after exercise to help reduce inflammation and keep his joints feeling good. You can also spray cold water on them to work as cooling and compression.
